Learner Driver – The road to freedom

Wow, now I am 16 years old I can begin the road to Freedom, Yes, I can become a learner driver.

What do I need to do?

Firstly, I must ask myself if I am ready to take on the responsibilities of being a learner driver. I will have a responsibility to myself, my family, friends, passengers and all other road users. Just being good enough to obtain my licence is not enough.  I must accept and recognise that there is more to safe driving.

Yep I am ready !

Now I need to learn all the road rules so I can pass my learner driver theory test.

All the information and help is on the Queensland Transport web site (http://www.tmr.qld.gov.au/Licensing) for me to study and I can do practice tests on there as well. I can even purchase my ‘Keys to Drive’ learner book from them.

I have done my study so now I am off to the Queensland Department of Transport to do my learner driver theory test.  There are 30 questions on general road rules and 10 questions on giving way. It should be a breeze.

I passed that with flying colours. Now for the exciting part of my journey, I have to find a learner driver teacher with understanding and patients who I can relate to and who will build my confidence and help me fulfil my learner driver responsibilities.
